Wildcats Defeat AMCATS to Stay Undefeated

PAXTON, Mass. – Three players had double-digit kills and four had 10 or more digs as the Johnson & Wales University women's volleyball team ran its undefeated record to 18-0 Tuesday night. The Wildcats blanked Anna Maria College 3-0 (25-22, 25-13, 25-15).

Of Note:
Johnson & Wales dominated the AMCATS as the Wildcats had one of their best all-around matches of the season. JWU had advantages in kills (51-25), hitting percentage (.316-.058), digs (69-39) and blocks (8-0).

Sophomore Emily Kalmink (Byron City, Mich.) had a season-high 17 kills while hitting .519. Tied at 19-19 in the first set, JWU went on a 6-3 run that was capped by a Kalmink kill on set point.

Freshman setter Brylee Frank (Palm City, Fla.) ran the JWU offense to near perfection, recording 45 assists – her second-highest total of the season. Joining Kalmink with double-digit kills was fellow middle blocker Kate Walker (Oakland, Calif.) with 11 while outside hitter Maria Coniglio (Old Bethpage, NY) had a 10. Walker hit a season-high .786 while Congilio added 12 digs for her second double-double of the year.

Over 25 percent of the Wildcats' 69 digs came from freshman libero Gianna Esposito (Larkspur, Calif.). Her 20 digs are her second-highest total of the year. Tying her season-high was Elizabeth Hamilton (Canton, Mass.) with 14 digs while Monica Cordova (Jersey City, NJ) added 10.
