WALTHAM, Mass. – If the young Johnson & Wales University women's volleyball team had any jitters in its first match of the season, it didn't show in their performance. The Wildcats opened the Brandeis Invitational with a 3-0 (27-25, 25-16, 25-22) victory over Endicott on Friday.
Johnson & Wales: 1-0
All three of JWU's top offensive players were underclassmen. Picking up where she left during her breakout 2015 season, sophomore middle blocker Emily Kalmink (Byron Center, Mich.). She hit a team-high .529 to go along with 11 kills.
The offense was clicking as the Wildcats hit .358 as a team. That would have been the third-highest total last season.
The Wildcats continue the Brandeis Invitational on Saturday when they take on Wellesley at 10 a.m., followed by Plymouth State at 12 p.m.
