NEW LONDON, N.H. - The number one seed was secured with last weeks win but the women's tennis team was able to secure a perfect 7-0 records in conference play to close out the GNAC regular season on Saturday with a 7-2 win on the road against Colby Sawyer.
JWU: 11-1, 7-0 GNAC
CSC: 3-8, 3-4 GNAC
In double play, the Chargers took the first win at one doubles before third pairing of Kat Ledesma and reigning rookie of the week Sydney Constantinidi earned an 8-0 win to even the score. First year Emily Hill and sophomore Kourtney Moore remained perfect in doubles play this season with an 8-2 edge over Amira Eid and Juliet Henderson.
Singles play nearly finished in order with numbers two thru six earning the final five wins for JWU. Highlighting singles action was Drew Bobey earning a 6-1, 6-1 win and both Hill and Moore taking 6-2, 6-3 victories.
JWU will host a combo event with the men's tennis team tomorrow as they will host Salve Regina at the Rhode Island College tennis courts beginning at 11 a.m. The Wildcats await the winner of Wednesday's first round matchup in the GNAC playoffs. Their first match will be a semifinal matchup beginning at 2 p.m. at the Winchester Tennis Courts.
