Women’s Tennis Holds On To Defeat Eastern Nazarene

RIVERSIDE, R.I.- Junior Claire Parry led the Wildcats to victory in today's 5-4 win over Eastern Nazarene. Parry picked up a huge win at number one singles to close out the match for the Wildcats.



JWU: 7-0, 4-0 GNAC

ENC: 4-2, 2-1 GNAC


Of Note: 

JWU got out to an early lead, going 2-1 in doubles play. Kourtney Moore and Emily Hill won a tough 8-5 set at second doubles while Kat Ledesma and Sydney Constantinidi solidified an 8-2 win in the third doubles spot. 

Senior Katie Mason opened up singles competition with a 6-2, 6-0 victory before Moore increased the Wildcats lead to 4-2 with a 6-2, 6-3 win at third singles.

Parry secured the Wildcats victory, going three sets to win. The opening set was 6-2 in favor of Parry before dropping set two, 6-3. The Westport, Conn. native stepped on the gas in the third set to cruise past the Lions top singles counterpart, Sharon Biondi, 6-1 and secure the fifth win for JWU.

The Wildcats will take on Springfield College at home on Tuesday at 4 p.m. at the Rhode Island College tennis courts.
