RIVERSIDE, R.I. - Sophomore Kourtney Moore and first-year doubles partner Emily Hill grabbed a pair of victories each to help the women's tennis team to a 6-3 victory in non-conference action against Bridgewater State on Tuesday afternoon.
Moore cruised to victory in the third singles position with a 6-1, 6-0 victory while teaming up with Hill for an 8-4 decision at second doubles. Hill, the back-to-back GNAC Rookie of the Week, dropped the opening set 6-3 before taking set two, 6-1, and set three 12-10.
JWU jumped out to a 2-1 lead after doubles play before Moore, Claire Parry and Hill secured the win for JWU. Drew Bobey capped off the victory with a 6-4, 3-6, 11-9 win in the fourth singles position.
The Wildcats and Bears had four singles matches extend to a third set.
JWU will play their GNAC home opener on Saturday when the Bluejays of the University of Saint Joseph come to Centre Court for a 1:00 PM start.
