
RIVERSIDE, RI - The women's tennis team was pushed to the brink on Wednesday afternoon in the home opener but came away with a 5-4 victory over Gordon in non-conference action.

The Wildcats took a 2-1 lead after doubles with the number two pairing of Emily Hill and Kourtney Moore winning four straight games after trailing 2-1 early. They went on to take the match 8-3 while the three doubles pairing of Kat Ledesma and Sydney Constantinidi gave JWU their first win on the day with an 8-1 victory.
In singles action, Claire Parry (6-0, 6-4) and Hill (6-2, 6-1) won in straight sets to push the lead to 4-1. The Fighting Scots bounced back with wins in the third and fifth singles positions before senior Kathryn Mason won a 3-6, 6-3, 10-4 affair to secure the victory for JWU.
