Women’s Tennis Stops Simmons 9-0

RIVERSIDE, RI – The Johnson & Wales University women's tennis team continued its winning ways on Saturday. The Wildcats picked up a GNAC victory with a 9-0 win over Simmons. 

The win bumped JWU's record to 6-3 overall, 2-1 in the GNAC. Simmons is still searching for its first GNAC triumph with a 0-3 mark and 2-7 overall.

The Wildcats dominated doubles action, dropping only one game. The tandem of Lauren Torre and Katherine Ledesma were 8-0 winners at number three as were the top duo of Delaney Macchirole and Kourtney Moore. Putting a bow on the sweep was Claire Parry and Drew Bobey at number two as they prevailed, 8-1.

JWU got the first singles point when Gabriela Velazquez was a 6-2, 6-2 winner over Carrie St. Peter at number six. Moore secured the team victory when she won 6-0, 6-0 at number four over Sarah Mariski.

Johnson & Wales goes on the road Tuesday to face Eastern Nazarene at 3 p.m. in a match that was rescheduled due to inclement weather.
