Chargers Defeat JWU Women’s Tennis 8-1

RIVERSIDE, RI – Over the last two years, the Johnson & Wales University women's tennis team has gotten close to taking down Colby-Sawyer, but haven't been able to get over the hump. The Wildcats fell, 8-1, to the Chargers on Saturday.

The loss dropped the Wildcats to 3-2 overall and 0-1 in the GNAC while the Chargers improved 3-2 and 2-0 in the league.

CSC swept the three doubles matches, but the number two tandem of freshman Drew Bobey and sophomore Claire Parry pushed the Chargers to a tiebreaker where the Chargers won, 9-8 (1).

Johnson & Wales' lone point came from Bobey at number five singles. She defeated Alexa Conlin, 6-2, 6-3. Senior Lauren Torre lost a first-set tiebreaker at number two singles.

Wildcats are back on the road Tuesday when they travel to Eastern Nazarene.
