WINHTROP, Mass. – The Johnson & Wales University women's tennis team was dominant in its season opener and the weekly conference awards reflected that. The Wildcats claimed both honors as Claire Parry was named GNAC Player of the Week and Drew Bobey earned Rookie of the Week as announced by the conference office.
It's the first weekly award for both players. Nina Cohen is the last player to win either award. She was named GNAC Player of the Week on September 11, 2017 and Rookie of the Week on October 17, 2016.
Neither Perry nor Bobey lost a game in the win at Curry. They teamed up to win 8-0 at number two doubles. A native of Westport, Conn., Parry won 6-0, 6-0 at number one singles. Bobey, who hails from Charleston, SC, won 6-0, 6-0 at number five.
After an exhibition against Providence College on Thursday, the Wildcats are back on the court Saturday at Endicott.
