PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Junior captain Olivia Cairrao buried the game-winning goal just over three minutes into the second overtime period as the Wildcats topped Regis 2-1 at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletics Complex on Wednesday evening,

In a match that was originally scheduled to be played in Westwood, the Wildcats were happy to have the home crowd on their side. JWU took the lead 30 minutes into the contest when a pass from Cairrao found Jordan Restivo and was placed into the back of the net from the top of the box.
The Pride scored 15 minutes into the second half to even the score at one. The host Wildcats sent 11 shots on net in the second half that were all pushed aside by the Regis keeper, Ori Attridge, which helped send the match to overtime.
JWU sent three shots on frame on in each overtime period while disabling the attack for the Pride and holding them to zero shots. Cairrao took a shot from 18 yards out and went bar down to close out the match to extend the Wildcats win streak to 12.
Cairrao came into the match fourth in the nation in goals per game and top ten in points per game. This is the second time this season the Wildcats won a match 2-1 in double overtime; the last instance was September 15th versus Eastern Connecticut, the match that began the win streak.
The Wildcats will make the trek to Standish, Maine on Saturday when they battle the Monks of St. Joseph's College for a 12:30 p.m. match. The Monks are currently in second place behind JWU in the GNAC standings.
