KANSAS CITY, Mo. – One of the top teams in the region, the Johnson & Wales University women's soccer team is being recognized for its work in the classroom. The Wildcats were honored with a Team Academic Award from the United Soccer Coaches.
In order to be eligible for the award, teams must record at least a 3.00 grade point average. Last season, the Wildcats had a squad GPA of 3.48, which ranks fourth in the GNAC.
Johnson & Wales has earned the Team Academic Award for the third time since Chris Flint took over the program in 2015. This year raising the team GPA from 3.28 in 16-17 to 3.48.
Over the summer, Johnson & Wales placed nine student-athletes on the Academic All-GNAC team, which recognizes student-athletes with a 3.25 GPA and above that have reached sophomore status.
