Patriarca Hat Trick Gives Women's Soccer Win

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Sophomore forward Victoria Patriarca recorded her first career hat trick as her efforts catapulted the Wildcats to a 5-1 victory over Western New England in non-conference action on Saturday. The women's soccer team earned their third straight win and their second consecutive match with five goals.

Of Note:

Patriarca started the scoring for the day with a shot from the right side just 8:05 into the contest. The Golden Bears tied it up 24 minutes later before Alexis Vieira contributed on back-to-back tallies for JWU. Vieira lofted a shot attempt over the keeper's head that dropped into the back of the net for the 2-1 advantage moments before she sent a pass Patriarca's way in the middle of the box that was knocked in for a 3-1 lead before half. 

In the second half, the Burrillville native Patriarca capped off the three-goal contest with a rebound off her own shot that she pushed past the keeper for the three goal lead. Olivia Cairrao closed out the the scoring for the day as she extended her streak to three straight games with a goal.

"It was a good way to end the week with our third straight victory and it was great to get our first road win of the season against a solid CCC team." said head coach Chris Flint.

JWU outshots the Golden Bears 32-11 with an impressive 20-4 advantage in the second half.
