Wildcats Score Twice in 2nd Half to Beat Coast Guard 3-1

PROVIDENCE, RI – Visiting Coast Guard Academy pulled even with the Johnson & Wales University women's soccer team early in the second half, but the Wildcats didn't panic. Instead, JWU responded with a pair of goals for the 3-1 non-conference victory on Monday.

Of Note:
Johnson & Wales wasted little time in scoring the first goal. In the third minute, freshman Emily Zeblisky took a pass from fellow rookie Jordan Restivo, made a move around the CGA keeper and put the ball into the empty net.

The Bears pulled even just two minutes into the second half.  Kylee Ballard headed the pass to Claire Hurley and Hurley scored from three yards out.

The Wildcats gave themselves a cushion with two goals in three minutes. Olivia Cairrao scored for the third-straight game when she ripped a shot from 20 yards out into the top left corner.

Zeblisky scored her second goal of the night in the 65th minute.

Coast Guard had a 20-18 advantage in overall shots, but JWU got 12 on frame compared to seven by the visitors.

Johnson & Wales is back in GNAC action Wednesday when it travels to Saint Joseph (Conn.) for a 4 p.m. contest.
