PROVIDENCE, RI – Two first-half goals from sophomore Olivia Cairrao propelled the Johnson & Wales University women's soccer team to victory in non-conference action on Saturday. The Wildcat downed Gordon, 3-0.
Johnson & Wales: 5-5
GC: Oriana Attridge, 2-2, 4 saves
JWU: Colleen Lynch: 5-5, 8 saves
Cairrao has scored a pair of goals in her last two games. The Bristol, RI, native opened the scoring in the 20th minute off a pass from freshman Jordan Restivo. The Cairrao-Restivo combination struck again five minutes later to put JWU up 2-0 at halftime.
Restivo factored into all three goals as she scored her team-leading seventh goal in the 50th minute.
JWU goalkeeper Colleen Lynch had her work cut out for her, but she was up to the task. Lynch turned away all nine shots she faced for her third shutout of the year.
The Scots had a 19-10 advantage in shots.
The Wildcats are back at home on Monday when they take on Coast Guard at 6 p.m.
