Women’s Soccer Drops 5-1 Decision to Connecticut College

PROVIDENCE, RI – A fast start by visiting Connecticut College was too much for the Johnson & Wales University women's soccer team to overcome. The Wildcats lost a 5-1 contest to the Camels on Monday.

The win improved the Camels' record to 2-1 while the Wildcats fell to 2-3.

Connecticut College's Kelly Brigham got the scoring started with a goal just 1:44 into the contest when she popped the ball over the head of JWU goalkeeper Colleen Lynch. Kat Norton struck twice within three minutes to expand the Camels' lead to 3-0 and they went into the half with a 4-0 advantage. Her second goal came off the rebound of a Lynch save.

Johnson & Wales got on the board in the 71st minute of the second half. Kali Trunca sent a long free kick into the box that Mackenzie Willis corralled and put into the back of the net for her first collegiate goal.

The Wildcats get back into conference action with a 7 p.m. game on Wednesday against Albertus Magnus.
