Women’s Soccer Beats Saint Joseph 2-0 to Remain Undefeated in GNAC

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – A pair of goals by freshman Olivia Cairrao provided all the offense the Johnson & Wales University women's soccer team needed to stay undefeated during conference action. The Wildcats defeated Saint Joseph, 2-0, on Saturday.

Records:
Saint Joseph: 5-1-1, 4-1 GNAC
Johnson & Wales: 6-2, 4-0 GNAC

Statistical Leaders:
Olivia Cairrao (JWU): 2 goals
Megan Ricci (USJ): 8 saves

Of Note:
Johnson & Wales wasted little time getting on the board. Kyra Selner (Sterling, Va.) dribbled past two defenders then slid the ball to Cairrao (Bristol, R.I.) who looped it over the USJ keeper from 20 yards out.

Cairrao struck for her second goal at the 66:09 mark. Deja Hursey (Columbia, Md.) had her shot stopped, but recovered the rebound and got it to Cairrao for her second goal. She leads the GNAC with 10 goals.

The Wildcats dominated the game as they outshot the Blue Jays, 24-5, including 10-1 on goal. Johnson & Wales took 10 corner kicks while limiting USJ to just one. Keeping the Blue Jays in the game was goalkeeper Megan Ricci as she made eight saves.

Johnson & Wales is on the road Monday for a 6 p.m. game at Coast Guard.
