PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Freshman Olivia Cairrao had quite the start to her collegiate career. The rookie tallied three goals in the first 34 minutes of her Wildcat tenure as the Johnson & Wales University women's soccer team rolled to a 6-1 decision over UMass Boston on Friday.

Johnson & Wales: 1-0

Statistical Leaders:

Olivia Cairrao (JWU): 3 goals, 1 assist
Alissa Rankin (JWU): 2 assists

Of Note:
Cairrao (Bristol, R.I.) is the first Wildcat to record a hat trick since Deja Hursey (Columbia, Md.) did it against Saint Joseph's on October 1, 2016. She opened the scoring at the 23-minute mark off a pass from Kyra Selner (Sterling, Va.) then Alissa Rankin (West Warrick, R.I.) fed her for the second goal five minutes later.

Two minutes later, Cat Nolan (Center Moriches, N.Y.) made it 3-0 then Cairrao got the hat trick when Rankin picked up her second assist in the 33rd minute. Hursey also found the back of the net twice.

The Beacons' Jessi Beverlin made a nice crossing pass to Kerri Alexander, who tapped it in for the Beacons lone goal with eight minutes remaining in the half. UMB goalie kept the Beacons in the game by making 13 saves.
