Women’s Soccer Shuts Out Albertus Magnus 3-0
PROVIDENCE, RI – After a scoreless first half, the Johnson & Wales University women's soccer team caught fire in the second 45 minutes. The Wildcats scored three goals in the span of 15 minutes to take down visiting Albertus Magnus, 3-0, on Saturday.

Records:
Albertus Magnus: 7-7-1, 5-3-1 GNAC
Johnson & Wales: 12-2-3, 7-0-2 GNAC

Statistical Leaders:
Kali Trunca (JWU): 1 Goal (GW)
Kyra Selner (JWU): 2 Goals

Of Note:
Neither team could score until the 55th minute of the second half. Off an AMC foul, midfielder Kali Trunca (Litchfield, NH) drilled a free kick from 30 yards out into the back of the net. It's Trunca's first goal of the season and the second of her career. Both of her goals have been the game winner.

Junior Kyra Selner (Sterling, Va.) added a pair of insurance goals to seal the victory. She dribbled around three Falcons defenders and shot from outside the box for the first goal. The second tally came off a great throw in by Cat Nolan (Center Moriches, NY). Selner has 14 goals this season, which is second in the GNAC, and rates fifth on the JWU single-season charts. She leads the conference with 33 points.

From there the JWU defense tightened up and goalkeeper Colleen Lynch (New Milford, Conn.) was a brick wall. The Wildcats out-shot the Falcons 12-8 with Lynch saving all four AMC shots on goal, including two by Angelina Piccirillo in the final 12 minutes. Lexie Fenn made five saves in defeat.

The victory was Nolan's 12th of the year as she tied the JWU single-season record for victories. JWU's 12 victories match the 1999 and 2015 squads for the fourth-most wins in a season.

Next Game:
Johnson & Wales goes on the road for its final three regular season games, starting Wednesday at Simmons.
