PROVIDENCE, RI – The 2018-19 season kicked off in historic fashion for the Johnson & Wales University women's rowing team. The Wildcats won their first ever home regatta on Saturday against Mass Maritime.
Johnson & Wales' Varsity 4 "A" boat crossed the finish line in 20:23.73 to win the 4000m race on the Providence River. Racing conditions were choppy due to 10-14 mph winds out of the northwest.
Senior Tatiana Windley served as the coxswain for the winning boat and classmate Olivia Fougere was the stroke. JWU's "B" boat came in 20 seconds back with Sarah Healy handling the coxswain duties and Kira Poulson as the stroke.
The Wildcats are back on the water October 13 when they travel to the Hadley Chase Regatta.
