Rowing Wins a Trio of Races Against Bryant

SMITHFIELD, RI – In a tune-up for next week's Mid-Atlantic Conference Championships, the Johnson & Wales University women's rowing team took on Bryant. The Wildcats came away with three victories on Saturday.

Guided by coxswain Elizabeth Conover-Prentiss (Belmont, Mass.) and stroke Jaym Henderson (Woodstock, Vt.), the Varsity Eight crossed the line in a winning time of 8:18.0. JWU took an early lead in the first 500 meters and never looked back.

Also picking up a victory was the Novice 8 boat, led by coxswain Natailia Colom (Austin, Texas) and stroke Bronique Smith (Freeport, Bahamas). They posted a winning time of 8:59.05.

The day started with the Varsity 4 coming through with a win. Down after the first 1,000 meters, coxswain Elise Bray (DeLancey, NY) and stroke Henderson led a late charge for a winning time of 8:47.2.

JWU travels to the conference championships in Lewisberry, Pa. next Saturday.
