
BRISTOL, RI – The second-ranked Johnson & Wales University wrestling team ended the dual meet portion of its season Friday against rival Roger Williams University. The Wildcats dominated the Eagles on their way to a 39-7 decision.
The victory gave the Wildcats a 23-4 dual meet record.
Johnson & Wales nearly put the match out of reach in the first four bouts. Second-ranked Jay Albis got a medical forfeit at 125 pounds then Bobby Jordan notched a 10-2 major decision at 133 pounds over Kyle Kaiser.
The Wildcats tacked on three pins in the next four bouts. Joe Ferinde pinned Chris Fuschetto at 141 pounds then top-ranked Da'mani Burns stopped Luke Bokina at 149 pounds. Christopher Behen pinned Nathaniel Lindsay in just 1:17 of their 165-pound match.
JWU ended the match with three-straight wins. Fourth-ranked Khamri Thomas won 9-3 at 184 pounds then fifth-ranked 197-pounder Michael DiNardo prevailed, 3-2. Rookie Tommy Wrzesien finished the rout with a 17-2 tech fall at 285 pounds.
The Wildcats are off until February 17 when they travel to the Future Tournament, hosted by Trinity.
