PROVIDENCE, RI – The third-ranked Johnson & Wales University wrestling team will host Wheeling Jesuit University – ranked No. 5 in NCAA Division II – in the historic Providence Performing Arts Center at 6 p.m.
In lieu of admission, the team is accepting donations in the PPAC lobby. Anyone who makes a donation and all JWU students in attendance can get entered into a raffle for a free Apple watch.
Each team brings in a number of wrestlers ranked in the top 10 of their weight class, but there will be a few matches that highlight the evening.
At 125 pounds, defending national champion Jay Albis from Johnson & Wales will take on Cole Laya who is ranked seventh. Wheeling Jesuit also has a defending national champion in Terrance Fanning at 285 pounds.
Two All-Americans will square off at 133 pounds when JWU's Bobby Jordan takes on Tyler Warner, who is ranked fourth for the Cardinals. At 165 pounds, a pair of NCAA qualifier will face off in the Wildcats' Adrian Gonzalez and WJU's seventh-ranked Keegan Driscoll.
Prior to the start of the match, Johnson & Wales will honor the eight seniors on this year's team.
