WINTHROP, Mass. – With the Johnson & Wales University women's lacrosse team looking for its first victory of the season last week at Worcester State University, junior attacker Dani Lydecker came through for the Wildcats. Her efforts earned her GNAC Player of the Week as announced by the conference office.
It's the Valley Cottage, NY native's first honor of the year, but the sixth of her career. She was named GNAC Player of the Week on April 29, 2019 after four GNAC Rookie of the Week honors in 2018. Regis' Brittany McPherson was named Goalkeeper of the Week and Samantha Hogan from Simmons picked up Rookie of the Week.
JWU trailed the Lancers, 5-4, with 4:40 left in the first half. Lydecker scored 32 seconds later then added another tally as time expired to send the Wildcats into the locker room with a 7-5 lead they would not relinquish. She just missed her career-high of eight points thanks to four goals and three assists.
Lydecker leads the GNAC with 18 goals, ranking her 44th in the NCAA, while finishing second with 24 points and 24 draw controls as well as third at six assists. She's fifth in school history with 133 career goals and 202 points.
