Women’s Lacrosse Falls to Engineers 17-12

PROVIDENCE, RI – A four-goal run in the first half was all the cushion MIT needed to defeat the Johnson & Wales University women's lacrosse team on Saturday. The Engineers handed the Wildcats a 17-12 defeat.

MIT: 1-1
Johnson & Wales: 0-3

Of Note:
Maria Patane's second goal and one from Kayla Datys put JWU up 5-3 midway through the opening half.

The Engineers responded with four scores from four different players as they went into the half up 10-8.

MIT started the second half by scoring three-straight goals to build a five-point margin on Lindsey Gambino's eventual game-winning goal.

Johnson & Wales had a 37-33 shot advantage, but MIT goalie Abigail Kolyer came up with 17 saves.

Tying for the game-high was Dani Lydecker as she accounted for four goals. Patane had a hat trick and two assists. Midfielder Marley Medina snarred a game-high six ground balls.

The visitors produced four hat tricks led by Ellie Rabenold's four tallies. Rayna Higuchi recorded two goals and two assists.
