PROVIDENCE, RI – Inclement weather postponed the original date between the Johnson & Wales University and Fitchburg State women's lacrosse teams. The Falcons couldn't hold off the Wildcats' offensive firepower as JWU rolled to a 21-5 decision on Monday.
Carrie Long cut the JWU lead to 3-2 with a goal at the 25:28 mark, but the Wildcats took control by scoring four-straight goals. Allison Pazienski had three of the scores and Raquel Pederzani found the back of the net as well. JWU took an 11-3 lead into the half.
Johnson & Wales started the second half on a 7-0 run. Rookie Marley Medina scored twice during that time.
The Wildcats got multiple points from seven different players, led by Pederzani and Medina with seven points each. Pazienski scored a game-high five goals.
JWU had 34 shots, compared to 14 by the visitors. The Wildcats also had a slight edge in ground balls (26-20) and draw controls (15-12).
The Wildcats wrap up the regular season Wednesday when they host Norwich at 6 p.m.
