WINTHROP, Mass. – The top goal scoring team in the GNAC, the Johnson & Wales University women's lacrosse team has a number of players who can find the back of the net. Freshman Dani Lydecker certainly has been one of the mainstays and another good week of goal scoring earned her GNAC Rookie of the Week.
It's the second award in the last three weeks and the third overall for the Valley Cottage, NY native. Alyssa Kelly from Mount Ida was named Player of the Week and Regis' Maresa Malcolm was chosen Goalkeeper of the Week.
Lydecker posted six goals in a pair of games, including four goals in a 17-14 setback at Westfield State. She also notched two goals against Emmanuel and won six draw controls on the week. Lydecker leads all GNAC rookies and ranks 11th overall with 33 goals.
Johnson & Wales will try to run its GNAC winning streak to 25 games when it travels to Albertus Magnus on Tuesday for a 6 p.m. contest.
