WESTFIELD, Mass. – A late second-half run was the difference as the Johnson & Wales University women's lacrosse team went on the road to Westfield State. The Owls defeated the Wildcats, 17-14, on Tuesday.
JWU found itself trailing at the half for the first time since the second game of the year. The Wildcats were up 5-3 on a Dani Lydecker goal, but the Owls rattled off five in a row to take an 8-6 halftime lead.
Midway through the second half, the Wildcats took a 12-11 lead on Lydecker's fourth goal of the game. Unfortunately, the hosts went on a 3-0 run to take a 14-12 advantage they would not relinquish. WSU goalie Maria Woodall kept the Owls in the game by making 20 saves.
