WINTHROP, Mass. – The Johnson & Wales University women's lacrosse team is getting big contributions at both ends of the field from a pair of freshman. Rookies Dani Lydecker and Cassidy O'Hara were recognized for their efforts in a pair of conference victories with GNAC Rookie and Goalkeeper of the Week honors.
It's the second time this year Lydecker has been honored by the GNAC while O'Hara is picking up her first award. Lydecker was first recognized on March 5. Mount Ida's Brooke Scahill was named Player of the Week.
Lydecker produced seven goals and two assists for nine points to go along with four ground balls, 11 draw controls and three caused turnovers. The Valley Cottage, NY, native tallied four goals and two assists in a win over Lasell before contributing three goals in a win at Saint Joseph's of Maine.
O'Hara got both victories in goal last week, posting a 9.00 goals-against average on a .581 save percentage. The Mashpee, Mass., native made a season-high 13 saves in an 18-7 win over Lasell before coming up with 12 saves to help JWU beat Saint Joseph's on the road, 17-11.
Johnson & Wales is on the road Tuesday to take on Rivier at 7 p.m.
