PROVIDENCE, RI – Goals keep piling up for the Johnson & Wales University women's lacrosse team. For the fourth game in a row, the Wildcats scored at least 20 goals as they topped Norwich, 21-10, on Wednesday.
Norwich: 4-6, 1-4 GNAC
Johnson & Wales: 7-5, 4-1 GNAC
Johnson & Wales is the first GNAC school to score 20 goals in four-straight victories. Lasell scored at least 20 three times in a row during the 2013 season.
The Wildcats wasted no time establishing a lead as Lydia Knapp (Glens Falls, NY) scored the first of her four goals just 2:59 into the contest. JWU got a pair of goals from attacker Raquel Pederzani (Coventry, RI) during a 4-0 run to start the game.
Norwich got a pair of goals from Chapel Guarnieri and Kathryn Albretsen to pull within 5-2, but the Wildcats went on an 8-1 run to put the game out of reach. Allison Pazienski (New Hyde Park, NY) scored three of her four goals during that stretch and Pederzani found the back of the net two more times. JWU outscored Norwich, 7-5, in the second half.
Nine different Wildcats scored a goal with five of them scoring at least twice. Pederzani set a new career-high with six goals and added three assists for a season-high nine points. She has 20 points in her last two games against Norwich. Knapp had four goals and an assist for her fourth-straight game with at least five points. Pazienski recorded her sixth multi-goal game of the season.
The Wildcats are back in action on Tuesday when they play host to St. Joseph (Conn.) at 7 p.m.
