Women’s Ice Hockey Collects NEHC Academic Honors

MARSHFIELD, Mass. – Success isn't limited to the ice for the Johnson & Wales University women's ice hockey team. In fact, the Wildcats' academic achievements might outweigh their athletic feats as nine student-athletes were named to the New England Hockey Conference All-Academic team.

To be eligible for All-Academic recognition, a student must carry a minimum of a 3.0 cumulative grade point average and have completed one full-year at their current institution. Three programs in Norwich University, Salem State University and the University of Southern Maine led the way amongst fellow NEHC programs with 14 honorees each.

Seniors Taylor Davis, Samantha Kawejsza, Cassie Wakefield, Kathryn Mason and Cassidy Simanski earned academic all-conference honors every year they were eligible. As a team, the Wildcats have a 3.50 GPA to rank sixth in the department.
