Women’s Ice Hockey Falls 2-0 to Suffolk in NEHC Playoffs

PAWTUCKET, R.I. – Two goals less than a minute apart was all Suffolk University needed to move on in the NECH playoffs. The sixth-seeded Rams upset the No. 3 seed Wildcats, 2-0, on Saturday.

The loss ended the Wildcats season at  11-11-4 while Suffolk moves on with a 9-14-3 mark.

Julia Volpe struck at the 10:29 mark of the first period with the eventual game-winning goal. Haley Poloskey found the back of the net 55 seconds later.

JWU had a pair of power play opportunities in the third period, but couldn't convert. The Rams had a 39-20 advantage in shots.

Head coach Jessica Salisbury needs to replace the five seniors on this year's team, including the all-time point and goal scorer Kathryn Mason.
