MARSHFIELD, Mass. – As the Johnson & Wales University women's ice hockey team made its run for a home playoff game, sophomore goaltender Jasmine Mucci was a stout last line of defense. She was recognized for her efforts with NEHC Goaltender of the Week as announced by the league office.
It's the first honor of the season for the Arlington, Mass native, but the fourth of her career. Mucci is the third Wildcat to be honored by the league this season. Hannah Tracy was named Player of the Week on February 4 and fellow netminder Claire Parry was recognized on November 4. Norwich's Samantha Benoit and Ann-Frederique Guay were named NEHC Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively.
Mucci only gave up one goal as the Wildcats beat Plymouth State and Castleton to secure the first home playoff game in school history. The wins were highlighted by her 40 saves to earn the shutout against Plymouth State, her first of the season. She also made a career-high 53 saves against No. 6 Norwich in JWU's third game of the week.
The Wildcats host Suffolk in the first round of the NEHC playoffs at 4 p.m. on Saturday at Lynch Arena. The two teams split the regular season series.
