PROVIDENCE, RI – A tumultuous second period allowed the Sacred Heart University women's ice hockey team to come away with a victory over Johnson & Wales University. The Pioneers scored four-straight goals in the middle frame on their way to a 9-3 defeat of the Wildcats on Wednesday.

Hannah Tracy scored her fourth goal in three games when she put JWU on the board in the 13th minute of play. The puck deflected off Cassie Wakefield's stick right to Tracy and she beat SHU goalie Frankie Sanchez between the pads.
The Pioneers answered with a pair of goals just 63 seconds apart. Jayne Lewis stole a pass in the JWU zone and scored on the backhand at the 14:47 mark. Maddie Bishop gave the Pioneers the lead when she slid the puck between goalie Claire Parry and the post.
At the 8:32 mark, Samantha Shoebottom scored the first of her two goals in the period and started a run of seven-straight Pioneer goals.
Sacred Heart had a 43-15 advantage in shots.
The Wildcats skate again Saturday when the face Anna Maria at 6:55 p.m.
