HARTFORD, Conn. – Any hopes of a comeback by the Johnson & Wales University women's ice hockey team were dashed in the third period Friday. The Wildcats were handed their first loss of the season, 5-0, at Trinity College.

The Bantams picked up the win in their season opener while the Wildcats dropped to 2-1-1.

The hosts got first-period goals from Morgan Bronstein and Karinna Cave-Hawkins less than two minutes apart. Trinity added a second-period score by Camille von Steinber as well as two insurance goals in the final period.

Trinity outshot the Wildcats, 47-10, which forced JWU goalie Jasmine Mucci to make 42 saves.

Johnson & Wales is back on the ice Saturday when it hosts Salem State at 3:55 p.m. in NEHC action.
