PAWTUCKET, R.I.- The women's ice hockey earn a win at their home opener against UMass Boston Saturday night. Though the Beacons got off to an early two goal lead, a hat trick from Korryn Russell secured the win.

UMass Boston got off to an early lead, netting two goals in the first thirteen minutes of play. After going down 2-0, the Wildcats went on unanswered three-goal spree. With two goals from Koryn Russell and one from Hannah Tracey, the Wildcats took the lead, 3-2.
Second period continued scoreless, until the last minute of play. The Beacons were able to score on a power play, tying the game 3-3.
Going into the third period, Koryn Russell scored her third goal to take the lead, as well as get her first hat trick of her college career. Strong defense and big saves from goaltender Jasmine Mucci was enough for the Wildcats to secure their home-opening win.
The Beacons outshot the Wildcats 36-18. Goalkeeper Jasmine Mucci turned away 33 of 36 shots on net.
The Wildcats return to the ice Friday, November 15 traveling to Trinity for a 4 p.m. puck drop.
