Seventh-Ranked Cadets Push Past Wildcats in the Third, 4-0

PAWTUCKET, RI.- Through two periods, the Johnson & Wales University women's ice hockey team went toe-to-toe with defending national champion Norwich University. The seventh-ranked Cadets beat the Wildcats, 4-0, on Saturday.

Johnson & Wales: 9-13-3, 7-8-1, NEHC
#7 Norwich: 18-4-2, 15-0-1, NEHC

JWU: Jasmine Mucci (L, 8-11-3), 41 Saves, 3 goals
NU: Kate Winstanley (W, 3-0-0), 16 Saves, 0 goals

NU: Amanda Conway, 2 Goals

Of Note:
The loss dropped the Wildcats to the fifth seed in the upcoming NEHC tournament. JWU will be on the road next week at Southern Maine.  

Neither team could find the back of the net through the first two periods.

Two minutes into the final frame, the Cadets got on the board when Amanda Conway collected the rebound of Samantha Benoit's shot and pushed it past JWU goalie Jasmine Mucci.

Conway added a short-handed goal midway through the period.

Norwich had a 45-16 advantage in shots, including 19-5 in the third period.
