MARSHFIELD, Mass. – Looking to stay in the hunt for a home NEHC playoff game, the Johnson & Wales University women's ice hockey team got a pair of much-needed victories last week. The play of goaltender Jasmine Mucci and forward Hannah Tracy was a big reason for that success and they were named NEHC Rookie and Player of the Week, respectively.
For the Arlington, Mass. native Mucci, it's her third honor of the season and second Rookie of the Week nod. A native of Hanson, Mass, Tracy earned her first award.
Mucci went 2-0 on the week with a 1.00 goals against average and .928 save percentage. She had 15 saves against Salem State to help the Wildcats to a 3-1 win. Mucci turnaround the next night to make 11 saves, including a blocked penalty shot, in the 3-1 victory over New England College.
Tracy tallied six points with two goals and two assists. She put the Wildcats on the board against Salem State and then gave the Wildcats a cushion with an assist on the second goal. Tracy had another stellar evening against NEC, contributing to the second goal when she assisted Kathryn Mason. Then she put the dagger in the Pilgrims at the end of the third period when she scored an empty net goal.
The Wildcats return to the ice Friday to take on Castleton on Senior Night at 6:55 p.m.
