Wildcats Earn Fifth-Straight Win 3-1 Over Pilgrims

PAWTUCKET, RI – The Johnson & Wales University women's ice hockey team's strong second half of the season continued on Saturday.  Two power play goals in the second period propelled the Wildcats to a 3-1 victory over New England College.

Of Note:
The Wildcats' fifth win in a row vaulted them into fourth place in the NEHC. The top four teams will host a first round game on February 16.

Johnson & Wales peppered NEC goalie Cianna Weir with 22 shots in the first period. The Pilgrims only got two on frame, but Alexa Scribner's shot found the back of the net at the 10:11 mark.

A pair of power play goals, less than 90 seconds apart, swung the momentum to the Wildcats in the second period.

Kathryn Mason received a stretch pass through the neutral zone from Hannah Tracy and she beat Weir just 3:22 into the second period.  The junior is fourth in the NEHC with 10 goals.

With shots flying in front of the NEC net, Cassidy Simanski put back a rebound of Victoria Perez's shot for the go-ahead goal at 4:41. It's the first game-winning goal of Simanski's career.
