Women’s Ice Hockey Defeats Salem State 3-1 for Fourth-Straight Win

 

PAWTUCKET, RI – A pair of first-period goals sealed the victory for the Johnson & Wales University women's ice hockey team. The Wildcats defeat Salem State University, 3-1, on Friday to extend their winning streak to four games.

Of Note:
The four-game winning streak surpasses the previous mark set by the 2016-17 squad. The win also moved the Wildcats up to sixth-place in the NEHC standings.

The two first-period goals came less than three minutes apart. Hannah Tracy started the scoring at 15:19 off a pass from Molly Gray. Cassie Wakefield finished a backhanded pass from Tracy at 17:59 to end the period with a 2-0 advantage.

The lead grew to three the second period when Drea Westgaard set up Victoria Perez at the 4:51 mark.

Ashley Wojewodzic put back the rebound of Ally Webster's shot midway through the third period to get the Vikings on the board.

SSU had a chance to close the gap to one goal late in the third period on a penalty shot, but goaltender Jasmine Mucci poked it away to maintain the two-goal margin.
