MARSHFIELD, Mass. – As the Johnson & Wales University women's ice hockey team was fighting for a victory on Saturday, goaltender Jasmine Mucci had her team's back as the last line of defense. She was recognized for her efforts with NEHC Goaltender of the Week as announced by the league office.
For the Arlington, Mass. native it's her second honor of the year after garnering Rookie of the Week on November 26. Amanda Conway from Norwich was named Player of the Week and Suffolk's Haley Poloskey grabbed Rookie of the Week.
Mucci went 1-1-0 on the week with a 1.50 goals against average and .946 save percentage. She had an impressive 34-save performance over UMass Boston (including 12 third-period saves) en route to a 2-1 Wildcat victory on Saturday. In Friday's 2-1 loss to Southern Maine she recorded 23 saves to keep the Wildcats within striking distance.
The Wildcats go on the road Friday to take on Plymouth State at 6 p.m. followed by a 7 p.m. contest at Anna Maria on Saturday.
