Women’s Ice Hockey Takes Down Beacons 2-1

BOSTON – Freshman goaltender Jasmine Mucci made a one-goal lead hold up as the Johnson & Wales University women's ice hockey team went on the road to pick up a NEHC victory. The Wildcats defeated UMass Boston, 2-1, on Saturday.

Of Note:
Late in the first period, the Beacons failed to clear the puck and it bounced to Samantha Kawejsza who slid it past UMB goalie Alyssa DePippo for the first score. Kawejsza has scored in back-to-back games.

Just 2:36 in the second period, the Wildcats got the game-winning goal from Drea Westgaard. She collected the puck along the boards and put home a backhand for the second game-winner of her career.

From there, Mucci came up huge for the visitors, stopping all 12 shots she faced in the third period, including killing off two power-play chances. The Beacons had a 35-20 advantage in shots.
