NEWPORT, RI – Despite outshooting Salve Regina, the Johnson & Wales University women's ice hockey team couldn't break through Seahawks goaltender Gretchen Howard. The Wildcats started the second half of the season with a 4-0 loss on Saturday.
Johnson & Wales dropped to 3-9-3 while the Seahawks improved to 3-10-1.
The Seahawks took advantage of a Wildcat penalty in the first period when Suzi Pearson found the back of the net on a pass from Michaela Simon at the 10:21 mark.
Wildcat goaltender Jasmine Mucci stopped 4-of-8 shots. Howard stopped all nine shots for the shutout.
The two teams are back on the ice Sunday when Salve Regina travels to JWU for a 4:05 pm contest at Lynch Arena.
