Women’s Ice Hockey Ties Nichols College 2-2

HARRISVILLE, R.I.- The Johnson & Wales University women's ice hockey team held the lead for the majority of the game, but a Nichols goal in the third period carried both teams into overtime. The Wildcats tied the Bison, 2-2.

JWU: Jasmine Mucci (T, 3-7-3) 25 saves, 2 goals 
NC: Cassandra Goyette 23 saves, 2 goals

Of Note:
Senior captain Kathy Ensor got the Wildcats on the board first. She scored her first goal of the season in the ninth minute of game. Kathryn Mason provided the assist.  

Nichols' Abbey Lueken replied, scoring in the first 38 seconds of the second period. Her goal was assisted by Mel McAleer and Kelly Ferreria,

JWU's Drea Westgaurd then capitalized on a power play at the 11:38 mark, giving JWU the lead, 2-1.

Nichols scored again in the third period to tie the game. Unfortunately, neither team scored in the extra five minutes.

Up Next:
The Wildcats won't return to the ice until January 5th against Salve Regina at 7 pm.
