PAWTUCKET, R.I. – A day after skating to a 2-2 tie against Becker, the Johnson & Wales University women's ice hockey team would not be denied on Sunday. Cassie Wakefield slotted in the game-winner with 1:05 remaining in overtime to lift the Wildcats to a 2-1 victory.

Halfway through the third period, the Wildcats got on the board thanks to the extra skater. Drea Westgaard picked up a pass from Victoria Perez and put it by Madison Rigsby for her first goal of the season.
JWU was on its way to victory, but Becker took advantage of back-to-back penalties and Michaela Martin's slap shot beat JWU goalie Jasmine Mucci top shelf to force overtime.
With 1:05 remaining in the game, Wakefield broke free from traffic with the puck and chipped a shot over Rigsby's right pad to win the game.
