MARSHFIELD, Mass. – With her team needing a pair of wins to keep up with the leaders in the Colonial Hockey Conference, senior Kami Weiner came up big for the Johnson & Wales University women's ice hockey team. In recognition of her efforts, she was named CHC Goaltender of the Week.
It's the third weekly award of Weiner's career, but her first since February 1, 2016. Jade Meier of Endicott and Nichols' Mel McAleer were named Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively.
The Elk Grove, Ill. native posted a pair of victories for the Wildcats over the weekend, relinquishing only three goals for a 1.50 goals against average. The senior netminder turned aside 27 shots in Friday's victory and followed that with 24 saves in Saturday's 2-1 win over Salem State.
Johnson & Wales plays a 5 p.m. non-conference game at Salem State on Tuesday.
