PAWTUCKET, RI – A second-period scoring frenzy propelled the Johnson & Wales University women's ice hockey team past Castleton University on Saturday. The Wildcats defeated the Spartans, 3-2.

Johnson & Wales took a 3-1 lead in the second period thanks to three goals in 92 seconds. Julia Martinsson's (Charlottenberg, Sweden) cross-ice pass found Kathryn Mason (Grafton, Mass.) right in front of the goal and she banged it home for the equalizer.
Twenty-eight seconds later, Tamara Bowden (Weymouth, Mass.) sent a long pass to Drea Westgaard (Elk River, Minn.) and she beat Rylie Willis for her team-leading 10th goal. Hannah Tracy (Hanson, Mass.) completed the scoring a minute later when she collected the loose puck and pushed it in for the eventual game-winner.
Castleton pulled within a goal when Amiee Briand scored her second goal of the game in the third period. She opened the scoring on a one-timer with 1:18 left in the first period.
The Wildcats play their annual Hockey at the Dunk game on Thursday, taking on Nichols at 5 p.m.
