MORRISVILLE, NY – Johnson & Wales University women's ice hockey goalie Julia Åberg had a strong performance between the pipes at Morrisville State, but the Wildcats couldn't come up with the offense. JWU lost a 2-0 decision to the Mustangs on Saturday.
The loss dropped Johnson & Wales to 9-15-1 and 4-8 in the Colonial Hockey Conference. The Mustangs improved to 7-5 in the league and 17-7-1 overall.
Renee Stevenson scored both goals for MSU. Her first tally came at the 7:31 mark of the second period. She struck for a power play goal at the 4:23 point of the third period.
The Mustangs had a 33-12 advantage in shots as Åberg made 31 saves. Three different Wildcats took a pair of shots. Morrisville was 1-5 on the power play while the Wildcats went 0-3.
Johnson & Wales now waits to see where it will travel for the first round of the CHC playoffs on Saturday, February 25.
