Women’s Ice Hockey Tames Cougars 1-0
PAWTUCKET, RI – It took nearly 57 minutes to determine a winner between the Johnson & Wales University and Chatham University women's ice hockey teams. In the end, the Wildcats prevailed 1-0 on Saturday thanks to a Casey Chodkowski goal.

Chatham: 0-6-1
Johnson &  Wales: 4-4

CU: Sydney Isbell: 21 saves, 1 goal
JWU: Julia Åberg: 39 saves, 0 goals

Statistical Leaders:
Casey Chodkowski (JWU): 1 Goal
Kathryn Mason (JWU): 1 Assist

Of Note:
With the victory, the second-year JWU program equaled its entire win total from the 2015-16 season. Last year the Wildcats didn't get their fourth win until January 29.

Chatham peppered Johnson & Wales' goalie Julia Åberg (Stockholm, Sweden) all game, but she was a brick wall in goal. She made 39 saves to record her first collegiate shutout and improve to 2-2.

After fighting off three-straight penalties, the Wildcats got the puck in the Cougars' end. Freshman Kathryn Mason (Grafton, Mass.) took a shot from the point that was deflected. Chodkowski (Somerset, Mass.) was there to get the rebound and put it past CU goalie Sydney Isbell for the eventual winning goal.

The Cougars had a 39-22 advantage in shots. Neither team could convert on the power play as JWU was 0-for-4 and CU was 0-for-7.
