JWU Women's Hockey Drops 6-0 Decision To Endicott In CHC Opener

PAWTUCKET, RI – Along with its first season of NCAA Division III hockey, the Johnson& Wales University women's hockey team also has a new conference to call home, the Collegiate Hockey Conference.  The Wildcats has the privilege of playing the first conference match up, but unfortunately came out on the short end as they lost a 6-0 decision to Endicott on Friday night at Lynch Arena.

The Wildcats are still looking for their first victory as they fell to 0-3, 0-1 in the CHC. Endicott stays unbeaten at 3-0, 1-0 in the CHC.

Missing three players due to injury and illness, Johnson & Wales was playing with a depleted roster. The Wildcats were outshot, 70-5 by Endicott and the Gulls had a 37-18 advantage in face offs.

For the second time this season, JWU goalie Kami Weiner (Elk Grove, Ill.) made more than 50 saves as she turned back 64 shots. Her record dropped to 0-3. Endicott netminder Carrera Noelscher picked up her first career victory.

Five minutes into the game, the Gulls broke through for the first goal of the game. Teneal Perry found the puck in the middle of a scrum in front of the net and poked it in for the first score. Five minutes later, Holly Erbe scored her first of two goals when she ripped a slap shot from the point for a power play goal.

The Wildcats are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Endicott for a return game at 4 p.m.
