Brewster, Massachusetts – The Johnson & Wales University women's golf team took to the Starboard Course at The Captain's Golf Course on Sunday for the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association championships. JWU shot a team score of 381 placing third on the opening day of the tournament.
Day one of the competition was highlighted by Bates College and Husson University tied for first on the leaderboard with identical scores of 372. With the Wildcats only nine strokes back of the leaders, day two has the makings of a close race to the finish potentially between the three schools.
JWU was paced by Alexis Anastos who shot a team low 86 and was tied for fourth overall on the individual leaderboard. Hannah Lifschin marked a 94 on her first day placing her tenth. Emily Schiesser posted a 98 on day one, while teammate Ashley Lewis scored a 103 finish to complete the day.
The tournament concludes on Monday as the Wildcats will look to make a move for the NEIGA championship.
